Thank you for you interest in learning about Westfield?s community grant program and for the good work you do in your community.
Westfield Insurance Foundation has made the difficult decision to suspend community grants for the remainder of 2009. We remain committed to human services through our partnership with United Way throughout our operating territories. Other key ongoing programs that revitalize neighborhoods; reduce teen driving fatalities; and support academic excellence will also continue. Please continue to review this site to become acquainted with our ongoing efforts.

With half of all new drivers involved in a crash before they turn 20, we need
better ways to prepare and protect teen drivers. Through Driving Skills for Life, a driver safety initiative from the
Ford Motor Company Fund and the Governors' Highway Safety Association, Westfield is getting involved to help educate young drivers on the importance of good choices.
Westfield Insurance has joined forces with these organizations to reach out to thousands of teens through educational programming, Driving Skills for Life curriculum, and Drive and Ride training events.
DrivingSkillsforLife.com This interactive web site helps educate new drivers through online training and games. Teens can master hazard recognition, vehicle handling, speed management and space management skills...and earn points toward possible prizes! Parents can get smart advice to give to their children...it could save lives.

Westfield's belief in creating opportunities for education and learning drives its support, through its Foundation, for the Idea Center at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio. In recognition of Westfield's support through the Westfield Insurance Foundation, WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN ideastream and Playhouse Square Foundation will name the Idea Center's new 300-seat performance and production studio "Westfield Insurance Studio Theatre."
The Westfield Insurance Studio Theatre will be used for television and radio production, theater performances, meetings, workshops and classes. "Children and teachers will have access to new programs, technology, and performances - all necessary for rich learning experiences," said Bob Joyce, chairman and CEO of Westfield Group.
WVIZ and WCPN programs that will be produced and presented from the theater include special broadcasts involving studio audiences (like a recent Around Noon radio program featuring Franz Welser-Most of the Cleveland Orchestra), and the education services special series What's Your (Math) Problem: A game show where sixth grade students from the Cleveland municipal schools compete and have fun while improving their math skills.
